Security and Data Compliance

SYSTRAN does not store or reuse translated content. For file translations such as PDFs, temporary items can be configured for automatic deletion after a specified period, supporting GDPR compliance. Not every language in the catalogue supports Neural Fuzzy Adaptation, so teams working with less widely used language pairs should confirm coverage before committing.

One practical caveat: PDF translation relies on OCR, and character recognition errors can affect output quality or damage formatting in tables, drawings, and images. Both text and complete files are supported across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, and other formats, under the same commitment not to store or reuse content.

The Office 365 add-in carries this into Microsoft applications directly: emails in Outlook, documents in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, all translated mid-edit with no export and re-import. Chrome and Firefox extensions cover the browser, handling any page in a single click.

Administrative tasks such as translation profiles, dictionary setup, and model training still belong on a full screen. The apps keep translation close at hand during ordinary work, while the configuration behind the tool's precision remains a desktop job.

Support, Onboarding Process, and Account Management

The help center covers user guides, installation manuals, and API documentation, with support routed by product: Translate Server and Private Cloud share one technical track, Enterprise Server has its own activation and support path, and Translate Pro along with Model Studio runs on a separate route. Beyond that, the company publishes a machine translation blog, webinars, and downloadable resources, including an ebook on translating sensitive data in regulated contexts.

Onboarding depends on how you deploy. Private Cloud installations are handled by the vendor, which also manages updates through a customer check process to confirm changes fit client requirements. Ease of Use / UX

SYSTRAN uses a professional, panel-based interface for file upload, translation profile management, and terminology work. Creating a translation memory is straightforward: name it, set the source language, and set one or more target languages. Translate Server's Version 10 release introduced a redesigned interface focused on streamlined navigation and a smoother workflow, reducing some of the friction reported in earlier versions.

Travel publisher Petit Futé needed to bring its guides to new international markets, but its content is both extensive and highly dynamic: 45% of it is renewed every year. Relying on human translation alone was impractical on both time and cost grounds, and keeping English-language information current required a fast production cycle.
